RAINFOREST CONSERVATION

YATAMA is a young project founded in 2002, Our focus is on the protection and research of the reserves biodiversity and our goal is to become a filed station were students and researchers from all over the world can study the tropics and from here face the challenges of conservation with knowledge and respect.

At this time mainly we are carrying out projects to restore areas that were disturbed many years ago:

We are taking data of known/unknown tree species were we have spotted wildlife feed from, this will lead us to restore areas with such trees and other native species of trees that can be related to. Once we spot an animal feeding from a tree we collect seeds and nurse them.

The restoration of these areas are in partnership with FUNDECOR a non profit organization leader in conservation projects in Latin America.

One of our successful research projects is our palm recovery of sp Heonoma epitiolata which is an endangered endemic sp. We have reproduced over 200 palms and replanted them back in the forest.
